Stephen Bysouth is a chemist and experienced laboratory scientist who has divided his career between the United States; where he worked for a total of 12 years as an analytical chemist with Shell Oil Company and later with Mettler Toledo, The Netherlands; where he lead the commissioning of automated systems in the new laboratories of Avantium Technologies BV and consulted for clients installing High Throughput formulation systems, and France; where he now runs his own company consulting on Laboratory Workflow, High Throughput formulation systems and provides milling and processing systems for laboratories.
Stephen combines his broad experience in R&D with a thorough knowledge of analytical chemistry, mechanical engineering and laboratory management. Through his own company, Stephen has worked on projects as diverse as oil well drilling, catalysts, foods and inhaled pharmaceuticals and his company is a participant in a EU Framework 7 project on the formulation of nano-materials. Additionally, he serves on the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Formulation Science and Technology Group committee.
As a consequence of his strong grounding in research in large corporations as well as ‘start-ups’, Stephen brings value to the table by challenging preconceived notions, asking key questions, and focusing on the processes needed to identify next steps and solutions.
