Forward thinking
University Guide
Our Cogentus University Guide is an application of our Promax Software. It takes students through a structured process, providing all the data in an accessible format, shortening the time generally needed to review all the information necessary to make the transition to university.
Choosing a university is a decision which has multiple factors to consider, most of which are not financial. The Cogentus University Guide leads students through the decision in a structured way, allowing them to evaluate at every level. Consider:
- Affordability - will they have the funding to enjoy the environment?
- Quality of education - will the teaching methods stimulate them?
- Student lifestyle - will it suit them as a person?
- Outcomes - will it place them in the best position for the future on exit - how employable will they be?
For teachers, students and parents, it is a web based tool that clearly sorts and presents data specific to each student. Making it easy to select a course and be directed to the universities that can best meet all personal requirements. It allows communication between students, to share their views as they down select to their final selection, to compare notes on Universities and to form friendships even before they start.
Benefits
The Cogentus University Guide is different from other University guides on the market:
Personalised: It is specific to each individual. It considers their own preferences and matches results to their predicted grades.
Social Network: Transfers softer knowledge that isn’t in the traditional league tables to assist with the decision making process.
Official Data: Avoids double counting of criteria and manages the data more efficiently. Our guide uses official data from Unistats to calculate the “Quality” scores and “Outcome” scores. Please note that this data is freely available from the Unistats website (http://unistats.direct.gov.uk).
Perspectives: Considers different perspectives for students, teachers and parents who may value things differently which opens debate but also demonstrates agreement.
Back Up Choice: Allows students the opportunity to consider their choices should they fail to get their grades.
