The best combination is that which gives the best overall benefit for a given cost.

It works by looking at the benefits that each project will deliver and comparing it with how much the project costs. This is Value For Money.

If you choose the projects that have the highest Value For Money and do as many of those as you can for your fixed budget you will be inefficient. Portfolio Theory is the underlying principle that proves that you can choose a combination of projects that will deliver higher overall benefit.  

Promax Professional

It is a fully featured software that has all the features of Promax Standard plus:

  • Graphical illustration of all the combination of projects available within a Cost-Benefit framework.
  • The ability to force in or out projects. This is useful for those that have to be done due to reasons other than value for money (e.g. regulatory requirements) or which are ongoing.
  • The ability to create individual portfolios manually to compare against the theoretical "best" or other portfolios.
  • The ability to creat relationships between projects (those that need to be done before, or in conjunction with others).

 

Since our decision engine it is based on MAUT, additional projects can be added as they are initiated without "rescoring" the whole portfolio. And since the basis for scoring is consitent this gives unrivalled accuracy and consistency to the results.  This is unique and means that the model can evolve over time just as real portfolios do.
